What type of person benefits from a screening test?
This link is provided by the British Dyslexia Association and provides a list of indicators that may suggest dyslexia in school age children.
Adults who may have had difficulty with some of the following over the last 6 months should consider a screening test:

Screening Tests

Screening tests are designed to give an indication of possible dyslexic difficulties. They are not a diagnosis and are not 100% accurate.
Where the test indicates a moderate or high probability of dyslexic difficulties, the best course of action is to follow up with a full diagnostic assessment. This would determine the precise nature of dyslexia and related difficulties. However if this is not possible, it should not prevent the child from receiving appropriate specialist tuition.
A screening test conducted by Dast will give you a good indication as to the likelihood of dyslexia. You will receive:
·  A personal, independent and confidential service
·  Results provided on the day and an advice session as to what the results mean and what you can do next

·  Distinguishing between words that look or sound alike
·  Understanding directions/instructions
·  Avoiding “slips of the tongue” (e.g., “a rolling stone gathers no moths”)
·  Summarizing the main ideas in a story, article, or book
·  Expressing ideas clearly, in a logical way and not getting bogged down in details
·  Learning a foreign language
·  Short term memory difficulties

·  Reading at a good pace and at an expected level
·  Reading aloud with fluency and accuracy
·  Keeping place while reading
·  Using “word analysis” (rather than guessing) to figure out unfamiliar words
·  Recognizing printed words
·  Finding enjoyment and being self-confident while reading

·  Spelling words correctly and consistently
·  Using proper grammar
·  Proofreading and self-correcting work
·  Preparing outlines and organizing written assignments
·  Fully developing ideas in writing
·  Expressing ideas in a logical, organized way
